To say the least this class made me a lot more proficient in a few different categories, the most important one however would have to be my use of internet search engines. This class will help me with the future of my college career in many different situations. I definitely feel a lot more confident using the computer now, and this will better the projects that I will turn in later in my collage career. Also i thought the wordle assignment was fun, I found it interesting to see the words I used the most. Over all this class has helped with my organizational skills and has made me a better writer.

Field Research Report-
For my in the field research report I interviewed two of my supervisors at work. I did this because I work for a semi large corporation called the Cheese Cake Factory. I asked the two supervisors questions on weather they think it is more economically and neighborly appropriate to open a large corporation or keep the corporations open for the purchase of stock for the public. Just as i suspected they both answered with the same answer. They think it it better to keep a large corporation open. This would mean that the public can benefit off of the success of the company's in their own neighborhood. The only thing that would be beneficial for the large corporations is the fact that they can offer jobs to people who have disability's. My supervisor also said that she believes it would be harder for the smaller corporations to compete with the wages that are being put off by big corporations like Wal-mart. But in the end i came to the conclusion that even people who are well educated and have a very strong background with bigger corporations still believe that it is better to have a smaller open corporation. This was the information that i thought would come out of this field research project.

Presentation plan:
I plan to put together a rather simple power point presentation that gets all of my main
points across. I will have a slide defining the two different types of corporations. I will have two slides that offer both pro and cons of both different types of corporations. I will then present my thesis on a slide and show the reasons i think an open corporation in more bennifical to a person, a neighborhood, and a family. Most of this information will come directly from my formal outline.

Progress report:
Things i have done-
- I have already completed most of my research
- i have constructed an opening statement and paragaph.
- I have coonstructed a thesis, and closing statement
- Started to organize a works cited page
- I still need to do my field research , i plan to do this very soon.
- I still need to gather a small amount of information to fill in gaps in my paper
- I still need to pick out the visual aids i will be putting in my paper
- I still need to construct a detailed outline, (other classes have got in the way of the completion of this.
- I would like to see myself work a little bit faster, to make less of the amount of work i will ahve to put into this paper last minute.
- Would like to have my final paper done by november 15th

Visual aids-
- I Plan to use yahoofinance.com for all of the financial trends of different corporations, they display several graphs, I will use a few of the relevant graphs
- Photos and logos of the corporations I will be bringing up in the text portion of my paper.
- pictures of the people and community's effected by the moving in of the bigger closed corporations.
- Pie charts, and job summary information, as well as trends in the industry.
- political cartoons from either news paper or magazines that lean towards my direction on the subject of huge corporations.

Introduction-
Recently inour country it has become a trend to franchise a corporation, making it availbe for a branch of the company to be purchased and personally run by the public, or by an individual alone. If nothing is done to keep large closed corporations from keeping the option of franchising and open stock corporations closed, then the public will not befit off of the business opportunity given to them. In turn this will make large corporations such as Walmart and Starbucks turn into a monopoly of sorts. Though the Big Corporations will provide jobs and service that the public can benefit from, the community will never be able to collect profit from a corporation they own a small part of.

Argument-
The argument i wish to state is that it is better off for the economy and for the good of the local people to have more local business. The Argument that i wish to state is that bigger closed corporations seem to take away the business and employee options that smaller franchises and corporations offer to local neighborhoods and community's. Not only do they provide jobs but they offer the idea of a successful business to local people to with the potential to profit from the business of their community. I will explore the profits major closed corporations benefit off of compared to the amount local business owners and franchise owners could have been getting. I will be arguing in favor of the smaller business because i believe it will benefit the smaller local community in the long run.

Thesis Statement -
Major corporations that have closed stock options are worse for the economy, neighborhoods, and the economy as a whole. If more corporations were open for franchising then it would give more people and neighborhoods a chance to experience the service of big corporations and in turn possibly bring a bigger profit to the corporation and those who choose to be a part of that corporation through franchising opportunity. Not only would this be better for the economy, but the corporations would in turn see a great deal more of business at their stores across America, and in turn more people would be able to experience and benefit off of the service and work provided in their given neighborhood.

Internet Research Tool Test-
http://bubl.ac.uk/---assigned search tool.
I searched "Profitable Corporations 2008"
I was very surprised to find that i didn't get 50,000 pages worth of useless stuff, but instead i got about 8 hits all of which were semi-useful.
The one that i chose was pretty relevant to my topic. What i found was not an artical but rather a link to a Fortune 500 list, This was a great help to my research because it provided a list of all the financially "on top" companies of 2007. This is awesome because i can take all of these companies and look up weather they are a private corp. or a franchise corp. This should provide very good statistics that i can use in my paper.http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune500/2007/full_list/index.html

Field research Assignment-
I have decided that for my field research assignment i will simply schedule a meeting with the GM of the store i am currently working at. I work for the Cheese Cake Factory, wich as you may know is a very big and successful corp. I think this will be very useful to my project as i will be asking questions about the finances of the corporation. I will also try to make sure and get the opinion of all of my supervisors on weather they think it is a better idea to have a franchise coroporation or a closed corporation. I will take very good notes during all of this and try to make some sort of survey that will allow all of my supervisors to give me their opinion on the direction i chhose to lean with my paper. I belive this will help me in more ways than one because i will understand my topic from the point of view of people who are acctualy effected by the descions of the company.

Internet Research Tools-
I would have to say that i feel most comfortable using Google. I chose Google because it is the most familiar to me, after all i have used it all my life. I am also a user of the internet browser "Google chrome", so naturally Google has a search bar right up on my tool bar. I am very open to try any new search engines to help me narrow down my search, however I might need a bit of guidance to make this possible. The only thing that I don't like to much about Google is the number of hits that come up every time I type something into the bar. If i had to change to a different search engine i would most likely use "http://blackle.com/", it is pretty much the same as Google, but with a cooler looking page, and it is also powered by google.

The topic that i chose is a bit un-clear at the moment, however i have some sort of idea of what i would like to do. I have chose to research the issue of pets in the hospitality industry. I have chose this because i have decided to be a hospitality major, and this is a big issue in the industry. Many people think that it is un sanitary to have their dog spot join them for dinner, however there are just as many people that feel like spot is a part of the family and should be treated as though.
I plan to base a lot of my research on interviews with people and guests in the service industry. I will base these interviews in both hotels and restaurants. It is already very clear to me that a lot of places frown upon this topic, but my goal is to go in depth and find out all the reasons people think pets should be barred from service enviorments. I am curious to find out which side generates a better logic for this topic. I also plan to investigate the way this issue is handled in different countries.
The things that i am most curious to investigate are the health hazards that may come into play while spot is at the table dining with the family. I will be finding out what types of policy's hotels have that accept dogs with open arms. It is very interesting to me to see how the other guests fell about having a pet in the facility causing a ruckus. This research will send me in several different directions I'm sure, but hopefully the end result will let me know weather it is a good idea to have our furry friends joining us on our time away from home.
